Everyday you have the chance to create something new. While this isn't a new discovery or statement, we often forget how amazing this opportunity is.
One of the most rewarding things about my job, is that everyday I get to either create something new or be apart of creating something that literally does not exist currently.
When you think about the weight and how stinking cool that is, hopefully it is encouraging and also affirming that we are here to create.
You may be saying to yourself, “I am not an artist, I am not a painter, musician, builder. I am not one of those creative type people”. But you are so wrong. We are all creative and everyday we get to show that with how we use our time and energies.
Maybe you crunch numbers all day or do something that someone thinks is boring. Maybe you even think what you do is boring, but what you do is so special. Even if you spend your day balancing a budget and numbers, you are creating something beautiful that allows others to continue on creating too.
We are all here to do something. It doesn’t matter if it’s in the spotlight or not, but we are all here to create, to help expand the universe. If we look at the history of mankind, we see one trend. People create things and then figure out ways to tell others about it. We create things to help explain experiences. We create things to help give substance where words fail.
In music, I get to create songs that literally don’t exist each day. When I approach a project the goal isn't to make a hit song or think about who may hear this or how it may look. The goal is to create, playfully. To understand that everyday we “get” to work. That everyday we get a chance to be a small part in creating something new that could potentially last forever.
The ripple effect of our creations is insane when you think about. Even if your a stay at home mom who makes lunches for their kids, you are giving them food in a way that did not exist. Those peanut butter and jelly sandwiches didn’t just show up in a brown bag with your kids name on it.. did they? No, you created it. You gave them food and that food will give them energy to then create. They are creating things that you may never see, that will outlive you, and thats amazing.
What we do with our time here on earth is important. You can either be a person who sees creation as beautiful and that we are here to create, or you can see this world as a place that is broken, falling apart, and doomed. If you do feel that way, the doom and gloom way, then get off your butt and go create something to stop it.
If you have any sort of ideas or promptings in your life, then listen to those things. We don’t just get desires and thoughts and dreams and convictions for nothing. We are made to share our creation with the world.
So today, go create.
Peace
